    • 3D Nipple & Areola Tattoo - How & Why?

Paramedical & Scar Camouflage - the whole reason that I decided to become a Cosmetologist. This is the truth. I cannot honestly remember the 'light bulb' moment. Perhaps it was when I discovered that the service was not available locally or when it was during a time in my life where I was ready to leave my current job (corporate world) & focus more on a job that would ignite my passion for creativity & fulfill my personal satisfaction. I guess it doesn't matter when, I am just so elated that it did. The training pre-requisites were as follows: 1 - Cosmetic Tattoo Design & Maintain course 2 - Maintain Infection Control course 3 - 1 year min of Cosmetic Tattoo experience 4 - Paramedical & Scar Camouflage course I didn't care how long it took or what I had to pay. I just had to do it. So many of us place so much of our energy into ensuring that those we love & care for are safe & protected that we often become background noise. Learning to untangle the web we created is not easy (and it can suck) but once we have an understanding of ourselves; why we behave the way we do - it is then that we can comfortably put our needs & desires first. When I am immersed in this type of creation, I am literally in another world. Watching the 3D nipple/areola tattoo unfold right before my eyes is purely magical. This type of creation isn't only about studying, reading or watching - its about practice, practice practice and of course most importantly; having a creative mind. Being empathetic, patient & gentle. It is a niche. It is not easy, however, for me it is everything. When I first meet my patients (or heroes if you like), I am often greeted with anxiousness and vulnerability. So many have already been traumatised by the cancer they had to fight, all of them so happy to be alive - yet getting a tattoo is always so unsettling. I understand this. I really do. Up to this stage, not having a nipple/areola was not a concern. Most have mentioned that 'once the dust settled' it was then that they felt that something was taken from them. They wanted it back. They wanted to feel 'whole & normal' to not be 'reminded' of their battle each time they were naked. To be able to give this gift to someone is somehow like - how can I explain it.....you know that warm fuzzy feeling you get when you've done a good deed, or when you see a beautiful moment unfold right in before your eyes; it is abit like that - but better !!!! This is my How & Why. I would like to acknowledge Dr Palasovski (Oncoplastic surgeon), Ann & Lynda (Breast Cancer Support Nurses) for being kind & supportive. For giving an 'underdog' a go. I appreciate you. Special thanks to my husband, son & wonderful friends who put up with me during this transition. I was such a miserable person (like a dragon lady type of miserable). Sorry. I love you all.

    • Low Maintenance; Not No Maintenance

'I always like to look on the optimistic side of life, but I am realistic enough to know that life is a complex matter' - Walt Disney This is as real as I can be; your cosmetic enhancement will be low maintenance, not no maintenance. Whoever is telling you otherwise is lying! If you book for a service with me, I will always remind you of this (perhaps maybe too many times). Even with cosmetic surgery (or just simply a cosmetic tattoo), a refresh is always required. No service will magically make things disappear forever. The time between treatment & refresh can depend on many factors; medication, skin type, age, type of work, quality of life etc. I personally have found myself in situations where I naively thought, if I do this, I'm sure there would be 'no more maintenance' - boy was I wrong. Surgery did not 'forever' get rid of my endometriosis, sculpsure did not 'forever' remove my cellulite, BBL Laser did not 'forever' remove my pigment (in fact, I ended up with hyperpigmentation) .... the the point is, even though these treatments did not (forever) miraculously cure my vanity woes, they did make life alittle easier & I certainly loved myself a little bit more that I did before (apart form the hyperpigmentation - that still sux). Low maintenance could mean many things; saving money, saving time, giving you the 'wake up & go' feels, going to the gym or holidays & not worrying about basic makeup ( the list goes on).....ultimately, if you are aware & respectful of the points mentioned above, then I say you will LOVE your cosmetic enhancement. If you want a fairytale ending - call Cinderella !

    • Same Same but Different

Same service, different result. Stop judging. Everyone has an idea of what transformation they would like, (especially when it comes to a tattoo on their face/body). You have no right to judge someones decision without knowing why they decided to go for the look they did. I hear so many judgmental comments about other peoples choices; too dark, too light, too thick, too thin, to brown, too natural, not natural enough, shes too old, he's to masculine, shes too young & the list goes on...... It is so important that you understand that no enhancement/tattoo will ever be the same. Different skin types, different wants & needs, different personalities. Please don't judge someone else's decision because it does not align with yours. Isn't it more important to support & elevate each other so that we embrace confidence, feel empowered & be visible. Isn't this all that matters! Most importantly, I would never proceed with a service that I did not 100% entirely agree with. I just wouldn't. I would much rather say no. I will say no. I will however, grant you the respect by being respectful of your expectations so that you can reach your desired outcome. ps: Love this..... 'No-one will understand you, It is not, ultimately, that important. What is important is that, You understand you! - Matt Haig
