SKIN NEEDLING.

Day 1

Within the first 24 hours, the skins typical symptoms may range from:

❥ Mild redness

❥ Heat

❥ Swelling (slight to moderate)

❥ Redness

❥ Tenderness

❥ Histamine release and swelling (that is much like a bee sting or mosquito bite).

❥ Minor itching

❥ Slightly pink or red in skin colour

❥The skin may exhibit the appearance of ‘scratches’.

❥ Light lymph drainage (water like discharge).

➵ Your skin will heal much faster and scar less if you keep the area moist. It is highly recommended that you use hyaluronic products immediately. The release of the hyaluronic acid instantly provides maximum moisture and maintains the effect of the Skin Needling for longer (and banishes the tightness). You can also apply a small amount of balm (e.g. Sensisomi Balm) 3 times per day.

➵Avoid activities or situations that would make you sweat. Skin Needling causes heat in the skin as a natural stage of healing. If you sweat or participate in any activities that make you hot, it will create further unwanted heat in the skin. It may also allow bacteria to penetrate the skin, this can lead to infection, extended redness or an adverse skin reaction.

➵ Remember the skin is open. Do not touch the area with hands. Avoid dusty/dirty areas and keep away from pets and gardening.

➵ You should not use your fingers to apply ointments. All products should be applied with a cotton bud or tissue.

➵ Skin can be washed with cool water no cleanser or soap

➵Avoid using makeup 24 - 48 hrs after the procedure as it is important to allow your skin barrier to heal over.

The use of makeup brushes can irritate the open skin, and if there is any bacteria on the brushes you run the risk of developing a skin infection. Makeup can also filter its way into the open tissue which can be detrimental causing darker pigmentation.

Day 2 - 3

➵Slight crusting may appear. The treated area may still remain pink to red in colour.

➵Continue to apply the balm and hyaluronic product in the morning/evening as a continual treatment.

Day 4

➵The skin may still be a little pink with slight crusting and some peeling.

➵Continue to apply the balm and hyaluronic product in the mornings and evening as a continued treatment.

Day 5

➵The redness and crusting (as well as the symptoms experienced in day 1) should have diminished.

➵ Continue with your products (twice daily)

Follow-up Treatments

Follow-up treatments are usually repeated at 6-8-week intervals depending on the condition of the tissue and desired results. Although, most commonly:

➵ Fine lines and wrinkles may only need one procedure.

➵ Medium depth wrinkles may initially need two, each treatment being at least 8 weeks apart.

➵ Severely deep wrinkles may initially need three treatments 8 weeks apart.

Important information

➵ Some individuals will see immediate results following the treatment, others will see a gradual improvement over an 8-12-week period. Latest evidence suggests that the treatment continues working for an even longer period, with some seeing results 3 months later. The results vary due to each person’s natural collagen and elastin regeneration process.

➵ The Skin Needling procedure will leave your skin in a highly sensitive state. It is recommended that you avoid all skin care products that contain any kind of ‘active ingredients’ such as Glycol Acid, Retinol, Vitamin A & C (for approximately 4 weeks after your treatment)

➵ Avoid scrubs and exfoliation (for approximately 4 weeks after your treatment) or until the skin has healed completely.

➵ It is advisable to avoid microdermabrasion and laser treatments for approximately 8 weeks after your treatment.

➵ Avoid exposing treated areas to the sun. It is recommended that a sunscreen is always applied once the skin has healed.

➵ World Health Organisation (WHO) - For any type of cosmetic tattoo procedure, it is advised that blood donation cannot be given for six months after your final treatment. This is a worldwide health regulation.
